COACHING QUESTIONS
Everything you need to know before getting started.
-
TRI2RUN coaching is for runners and triathletes who want personalized training, ongoing feedback, and a coach who understands that training has to fit around real life.
Athletes range from people preparing for their first race to experienced competitors chasing personal bests, podiums, qualification goals, and longer-distance challenges. You don't need to be an elite athlete—you just need a goal you're ready to work toward.
-
Absolutely. You don't need years of experience or impressive race results to benefit from coaching. TRI2RUN works with athletes preparing for their first running race or triathlon as well as experienced competitors.
If you're new to endurance sports, coaching can help you build fitness progressively, understand how to train, avoid common mistakes, and arrive at your first race feeling prepared and confident.
-
Yes. TRI2RUN works with experienced runners and triathletes pursuing personal bests, age-group podiums, qualification goals, and championship-level events.
For experienced athletes, coaching becomes increasingly individualized—using your training history, performance, feedback, and race demands to identify where the biggest opportunities for improvement are.
-
TRI2RUN coaches athletes across a wide range of endurance events. Running coaching can support goals from the 5K through the marathon, ultramarathons, and 100-mile races. Triathlon coaching ranges from sprint and Olympic-distance events through IRONMAN 70.3 and full-distance IRONMAN racing.
The distance matters less than the goal behind it—your training is built around the specific demands of the event you're preparing for.
-
Coaching is primarily online, which allows TRI2RUN to work with runners and triathletes regardless of where they live. Your training is delivered through TrainingPeaks, with ongoing communication and feedback throughout the process.
In-person coaching may also be available depending on location, schedule, and the type of session. Additional costs may apply for in-person coaching.
-
Your training is built specifically for you—not pulled from a generic template. We start with your goal and race date, then consider your current fitness, training history, available time, work and family schedule, travel, previous injuries, equipment, and other factors that affect your training.
From there, training is planned and adjusted as you progress. The goal is to give every workout a purpose while building a plan you can realistically execute.
-
As much as needed to help you reach your goals. Communication is an important part of TRI2RUN coaching and can range from regular weekly check-ins to more frequent conversations when training, racing, or life requires it.
Communication can happen through text, email, phone, video calls, and TrainingPeaks comments. The goal isn't to limit communication to a set number of check-ins—it's to make sure you have the feedback and support you need.
-
We move forward. Missing a workout doesn't mean you've failed or that the rest of the week needs to be forced back into place.
We'll look at why the workout was missed, where you are in your training, and what makes the most sense next. Sometimes a workout moves, sometimes the plan changes, and sometimes we simply skip it. Consistency over time matters far more than making every individual workout perfect.
-
Yes. That's a fundamental part of how TRI2RUN approaches coaching. Your training is built around the time you actually have, not an imaginary perfect week.
When work gets busy, family commitments change, travel comes up, or life simply doesn't go according to plan, we adjust. The goal is to make the best training decision for where you are while continuing to move toward the bigger goal.
-
TrainingPeaks is where your training plan lives. Your workouts are scheduled there, and completed training can be uploaded or synced from compatible devices and apps so your progress can be reviewed over time.
But TrainingPeaks is the platform—not the coaching. Your workout data, comments, feedback, and how you're feeling help guide the conversations and adjustments that shape what comes next.
-
Yes. Race preparation is part of the coaching process, not something that starts the week before your event.
As race day approaches, we'll work through pacing, nutrition, course demands, equipment, logistics, and race strategy as appropriate for your event. Whenever possible, those decisions are practiced during training so you arrive on race day with a plan you've already tested.
-
Start with a conversation. Tell me a little about your goals, experience, current training, and what you're looking for from a coach.
From there, we'll talk about what you're working toward and whether TRI2RUN is the right fit. There's no need to have everything figured out before reaching out—that's what the conversation is for.
STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
Let's talk about what you're working toward.
Every athlete and every goal is different. If you're wondering whether TRI2RUN is the right fit, start a conversation and tell me what you're working toward.
